Cambridgeshire Action Group is a collective for groups and individuals with shared concerns about the unfair, undemocratic and unwelcome decision making by the various tiers of local authority and other unelected decision-making bodies in Cambridgeshire. This is a non-party political, grass-roots movement of citizens from across Cambridgeshire. While we work together with other groups and individuals who share similar concerns, we maintain our independence from all other organisations.
Membership is open to those who agree with the objectives of the organisation and who request to be added to the organisation’s list of members. Currently there are no membership fees, but donations campaign expenses are accepted. This is a dynamic group and as such its goals are evolving as the campaign progresses. Our main efforts will be focused on spreading the word regarding the undemocratic nature of local political bodies, local authorities and other decision makers and making a call to action to ensure that local and accountable decision making prevails.
This is currently an entirely volunteer-led operation. Our steering group makes decisions by majority vote. All members are encouraged to engage with all activities that further the aims of the organisation.
Steering group meetings are held in accordance with need, based on active initiatives such as campaigning, public meetings, rallies, and whatever other actions are agreed on by the executive committee. Finances are managed by the treasurer other members of the steering group also having authorisation to make payments on outstanding invoices for services and goods rendered.
Group members are respectfully asked to be mindful that individuals campaigning for the aims of the organisation from a variety of age brackets, socio-economic backgrounds, physical abilities, and political persuasions. However, we all share the main objectives of demanding that decision-makers in Cambridgeshire should be democratic, transparent and accountable.
